Hi, I was wondering about the legal issues surrounding using licensed model formats in games. I.E., what types of models can I legally use (freely) in game development? I think I read that the 3DS model format is free to use, but I''m not sure, and I''d like to know about MD2/MD3 formats, specifically. Can anyone help? Thanks!
I dont know very much about the legal issues, as I use a custom model format. Put it like this though - when you get to a point where legal issues actually matter, you''ll probably have changed to a custom model format already ;-)

You can use most formats, including md2 and md3. But you can''t create them with ID''s software.
