The q3 tut on GameTutorials is a good starting point if you want to write a BSP loader/renderer from scratch, but there are lots of things (shaders, bezier patches...) that are not supported.
I guess you want to take a look at this:

It''s pretty close to quake3 itself ;*) and comes with sources.
BTW, is there a tutorial about how to render shaders ?
