I guess a Breakout or Pong game would be too simple for someone who has recreated Tetris...

Why not go to a few emulator sites and look there for inspiration, find a few simple puzzle games?

Make a game like Kid Icarus from the NES. The player would get more powerful as the game goes on, and there would be different worlds like vertical, horizontal, and castles where you can constantly change rooms. Of course you don''t have to make amazing graphics (give it a weird theme then ).

Just my two cents. Someone should do this. Maybe I will sometime.

How about a mario clone?
How about Pang!

Pacman clone might be good... since it introduce some basic AI into it.

one question?

did you "completely" finished your tetris?

menu, highscore, credits, ...
Pang3D would be really nice...
But if you want to improve your skills I would go to Pacman, as DerekSaw
said it introduces some AI.

Sounds like I''m about a week ahead of you. I too recently finished my Tetris game (in SDL). It felt good to finish something and have people smile and laugh when they play it.

I chose a missile-command clone as my second game. I would recomment the same to anyone. You will use your knowledge of 2D you learned from Tetris, but you have to deal with some interesting issues.

Namely, line drawing, collision points, more complex win/loss situations, stereo sound , and animation to name a few. It has been a blast. I''m almost done with it.

Good Luck with whatever you make.
