View Vector
i have a question about the view vector.
in the gametutorials.com tutorals. on the 1st camera tutorial, they introduced the view vector. they said if you had point p for postion and v for view.
you subtract v from p to get the view vector.
why cant you just keep point v for the view vector, that is what it is after all isnt it?
Can somone clear this up for me. thanks alot

Easy mistake to make.
A vector can represent two things, a direction with a length, or a point in space.
The position and view vectors are points. They represent a location. "I am sitting on my chair (position) and looking at my monitor (view)"
When you subtract, you get another vector but it doesn''t represent a position, it represents the direction from the position to the viewpoint "My monitor is 5cm north from me"
So if I wanted to move towards the monitor, I know that I have to move north, because that''s the direction of my view.

They didn''t teach us this at school, but I''ve hear elsewhere that it can be rather bad for your health if you sit that close to the monitor.
