I know i have posted before on which game engine to use and I know u guys will refer me to google. But seriously i cant see to find a good game engine. I want something that can compete with splinter cell for free or maybe not higher than 300. Plz can you give me some that exsist. I cant see to find any. Even if it doenst compete with splinter cell I want something that is good and is the best affordable game engine.
if you want to use the same engine as splinter cell ...
(i think its build on a modificarion of UnrealEngine2003 )

and if you want to use that engine ... then you need a serius amont of cash ...++++

Which one would u peeps suggest is good to learn on and a good C++ base so I can use some of my skills that i have learnt.
Making one of my own would not be a bad idea do u say.
By the sound of your post your not anywhere near good enough to need an engine that can compete with splinter cell. You probably just saw or played the game and then immediately wanted to prgram something like that. I suggest learning everything in c++ you can for now.

Do you even have any experience with an api? Thats what game engines are based off of you know...

Cheers,

Chris

Hello Micromania. I now researching and learning on TrueVision3D (http://www.truevision3d.com) and it is very cool and very fast. I think it will be your choice. It supports directx 8.1/9, sound (*.mp3) and also supports .net languages/delphi/classic vb. I think they are implementing c++ soon for the latest release. Currently it is still under beta. Try to download the full setup and test out the samples and tutorials for delphi and vb. It is fantastic. You can create games in less than a few days.
