The generalised functor issue exactly makes the point I wanted to make, unless you refuse to see the point.

Out of context, that statement belongs to:

Issues like trees, templates and generic programming is not a beginners level material.

Please don''t rearrange the contexts.
And we have different opinions on what defines a beginner. Let us agree on that and bury this issue.

I did understand your point, I told you I did and I provided you with a reason why I cannot use it.

For what it is worth I do think Python can be used for scripting in games although I think C# is better suited for this task.

I''m not trying to persuade *you* to use it. The question is "is Python a better language than C++ for learning to program?" Your personal situation has nothing to do with the answer to that question.

For fuck''s sake, do you actually have anything to say about any of my points other than tedious nitpicking over how I''ve constructed my posts?

I''ve asked you several questions which you still refuse to answer. I''m particularly interested in this: which languages did you consider in your analysis that concluded with "most languages are static"? To make it easier for you to answer, here''s a multiple choice answer sheet...

a) I considered the following languages: [insert list of languages]. These languages have static type-systems: [insert list of statically-typed languages].

b) I considered the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java and Python. These languages have static type-systems: C, C++, C# and Java. Since those are all the languages in the world, it''s clear that most languages are static.

c) I did not perform any such analysis. I thought I''d just make the statement because I couldn''t come up with any sound reasoning, so had to resort to intellectual dishonesty.

d) You''ve just used a swear-word and I won''t answer your question because you''re a nasty man. I''m going to tell my mommy.

e) Most languages *are* static! They are, they are, they are (stamping feet)!
This thread must die. If a mod won''t close it I may have to take drastic steps to kill the thread.

And so, the evil religion thread stole the wonderful "What the Heck?" thread's throne. Truly a sad day for gamedev.
What's wrong with you?

I agree, kill this thread. It is going nowhere.

Since you ask... my problem revolves around the fact that so many people insist C++ is a great language for learning to program, but refuse to explain why they think that. I''ve tried and tried and tried to get yourself and others to provide some insight into why you think that, and the nearest answer has been "because C++ is popular", which isn''t actually an answer. Furthermore, I''ve provided quite a lot of explanation as to why I think Python is better suited, and you refuse to discuss the examples I give saying they are unsuitable, whilst continuing to refuse to provide more suitable examples or in any way build a counter-argument. I''m led to believe you lack the ability to form a counter-argument which concentrates on the actual subject rather than my posting style, and also lack the intellectual honesty to admit that. All of your posts have been based around derailing the actual discussion.
