hi, I just started programming on C++ using DirectX for games and it seems my computer is too slow for some things (Direct3D). I am on a P2 400 w/ 64mb of RAM. What would be a good hardware specification?

Its a pretty old laptop so there is no hardware accel. which is probably the reason. I think its an old RAGE PRO 2x. . .
