I know c++ fairly well and have been studying direct x for a couple weeks or so now(mostly directdraw and i understand it good) but whenever i sit down and try to type everything i feel overwhelmed any advice for what i can do.

Hang in there, focus on a small part at time. If your making a small break out game for example. Focus on the ball code. When the ball is working you focus on next thing. When all small parts are done and working you put them together. Dont even think about how to do the roxxors-mp3-player-addon while you code the little text scroller in the corner. :D

Just focus on what you are going to do and make sure you know what you are going to do before you do it. Other than that, only experience will help you.
