Mario was named after the Italian warehouse manager at the Nintendo''s US operation. He first appeared in the Video Game Donkey Kong as Jumpman (aren''t you glad they changed it?). And Super Mario Bros. 2 is awesome; I don''t give a rat''s ass if it doesn''t "feel" like a Mario game. We need that gameplay in 3D, dammit.

Super mario brothers 2 in japan was the lost levels
american mario two was just Doki Doki panic with different graphics
lost levels wern't released in america at firt because it was apperently too hard for americans
usa version of mario two was released in japan as mario usa
mario games adapted several enemies from Doki Doki panic

the lost levels was first released in america for SNES in super mario: all stars and later in Super mario Deluxe GBC.

to get to world 9 in the lost levels you need to beat all worlds without warping

luigi was first main caracter in mario is missing for NES

several mario instruction booklets call mario the "well rounded" character

In mario 64 if you have mario stand next to certain trees and wait then he will pee on it (really!)
if you wait anywhere else he will dream of italian food
