Here is the picture: http://www.angelfire.com/mac/navicrossing/art/ManaOfficial.jpg We are trying to impliment a scabbard for her sword. As the game will involve jumping and similarly active movements, I''d rather not place the scabbard at her waist, rather, on her back. Unfortunately, that would ruin her cape''s flow, something that is essentially a part of the character. Not to mention that her walking animation (each frame hand-drawn, mind you) would be severly hindered due to the fact that the cape is flowing in each one. The cape is attached all along the collar, so having it under the cape isn''t exactly a viable option. Having it at her waist, I think would cause the possibility of seeming to get caught in-between her legs. Of course, if anyone knows a better idea for implemintation, your comments would be much appreciated.
Have it on her back with the handle down, so it draws at the waist. The tip is then up the back in between the shoulder blades and under the cape. You can get away with not drawing much beyond the handle.

As an alternate, put it at the waist but behind the back and horizontal.

Or maybe over the cape, but high enough that it only rests over one shoulder.

Or go with a pair of long knives, one strapped to each thigh. Like sixguns, only knives.

That''s all I got, HTH.

A really nice design!!!!
Well I suggest a short sword scabbard hanging crossed on the girl pelvis or tied to her leg. I´ll love to see her moving (love 2d althoguh I usually use 3d (is faster )). In case of suffering too much making the animation I suggest using 3d and a toon tool like brazil or illustrate, you can get really fast and nice results (a look like Wild Arms 3), but, of course, 2d is really, really coolest!!
A new idea that was thought up recently, that might work if it seems plausable enough for a Fantasy game:

The gauntlet on her right arm, could be used as a sheath for a retractable sword. Somewhat like those plastic lightsticks one might see, she could turn her hand a little bit and pull it out, the speed of her pulling and swinging it into a ready position, could cause it to reach it''s full length.

Does this one sound like a viable option?
