I killed my mouse
Hello. I was playing around with linux on my other computer, and, while trying to get both the track point on my keyboard (it''s a laptop) and my usb mouse (microsoft explorer optical) I kind of accidentally set it to bus mouse. And since I don''t have a bus mouse I''m kinda stuck. I''m using Mandrake 9.0 and I have KDE and Gnome working. I was wondering if anyone could help me out getting at least one of my mice working. I was content with just using my trackpoint, but it skips to the top right corner of my screen randomly which is REALLY anoying. It''s an IBM R31 if that helps. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
OH, btw, I can navigate through my partition when I''m in Gnome so even if someone could tell me where the hardware configuration program is at I could probably at least get back to square one.
Press ctrl-alt-F1 to go to a to a termial, then run xf86config (assuming it's available in mandrake) to generate a new config file. The go back (alt-F7) and restart X (ctrl-alt-backspace).
Back up your config file first XF86Config or XF86Config-4 first, in case you need to copy setcions, like the display from itm, as I don't think xf86config handles LCD.
Or better yet, use xf86cfg, which will let you configure only your mouse.
