The Missing Link with Maya....

Hi All, I have been doing some research for the last couple of days and finally decided on using Maya for Modelling and Animation. But what is the next step, how do I get the file format saved by Maya to contain the model and the skel-animation and then import it into and use it in my OpenGL engine(eg MD4 sytle). This is just one of those things I have no idea about, hope you peeps can help me. Cheers.
It requires proprietry software (unless somebody else has developed something...), which if you can afford to buy Maya, you should be able to afford to pay somebody to design it for you. If you didn''t actually, technically pay for an official, honest to goodness version of Maya, then you probably shouldn''t be asking questions about it here. I''m only throwing this out, because it seems that if you have Maya, and you don''t know about basic stuff, that...well.. I''m just playing connect the dots here.

Write a plug-ins, its in the documentation, you can output the info to your own file format. I like my own format, than other anyway, that way, I don''t have to figure it out.
