Hi, I am new to this forum. Is there any way to convert 3D Studio or GMax files (*.max, *.ase, or *.3ds) into Unreal/Deus Ex map format (*.unr)? I find the Unreal Map editor cumbersome to use and not flexible. I sometimes wonder how in Deus Ex, they make complex maps without a 3D program. The Unreal map editor is inflexible and too much of a problem to use. I am into creating total conversions for Deus Ex.
You can''t make everything in Max, you can make most but you have to place the actors in UnrealEd which is no big deal anyway.
Just build whatever you''re gonna build (make sure you keep it below 500-600 polygons maximum to avoid slowdowns, not polygons of the whole mesh just polygons in view) and Export it as ASE, then open up UnrealEd and hit Brush > Import > ASE.

I do have to use UnrealEd for putting objects in the level. However, I was wondering if you can create levels outside of UnrealEd. I know there is a 3DS to Quake levels and Quake levels to Unreal levels I believe.
