Question about .MOD and .S3m
Working on a game for GBA right now and I was wondering, is there a program that can convert .wav files to .mod files? I know it''s a streatch but hey, we have people up in space right now so anythings possible.
Also, what program would be able to save .wav files into a .s3m audio format? Pro Tools? Sound Forge? I''m at a school with recording studios and sound labs so just name it , I''m sure I can find it..
thanx

The two formats are so drastically different, it''s like asking "How can I change my SUV into a toaster oven?" Chances are, you could find some bastardizing way to do it with a wav->Midi(i don''t know how well this works, never tried them), Midi->Mod, but you wouldnt like the result.
Of course, you could be obtuse, and create a MOD that has your .wav in it as a smaple, and only serves to play it, but something makes me think that would be a waste and a dumb idea.
If you need a Mod, it would serve you to get started tracking today and just re-create your original song with the proper equipment.
If you are new to Mods in general, they are not just a sound file format, they store .wavs as samples within them, along with triggering and timing information which dictates how they will be played when interpretated by a specific playback program.

Krikkit is right. Mods are like Midi files that contain NOTEs but contain samples as "instruments" that teh notes will play.
You can Load a Sample into a Mod as an instrument, but it will be the same size and length as the original (ie pretty pointless I think in your case).
If you want to talk to me about GBA music give me a mail I am a specialist composing for GBA.
