Indie game sales
Hi all. I was just curious how many copies (per month?) that people''s indie games sold. I am about to release one and was just curious about what to expect and/or what everybody else''s results have been to get a good idea of what to expect. I haven''t really been able to find an average number or many people''s actual sales. Any sales results would be appreciated! Thanks!

It depends upon so many factors (quality, marketing, luck, etc...) that the answer is something like (none to alot). This question gets asked at least once a week and there are better answers (though they all say the same thing) in other threads.

I know that there's many factors, just like Big-time games, but I was just wondering what kind of success some of you have had. Like how many you sold and things like that. Thanks!

Nobody ever gives out numbers so here goes...
This game:
http://www.positech.co.uk/starminer
Has sold about 140 copies over several years as shareware, also its on some egames compilations
This One:
http://www.positech.co.uk/starlines
Has sold over a thousand copies through RealGames and as shareware over several years
This One:
http://www.positech.co.uk/kombatkars
Has sold hardly any copies at all (a few dozen at most) over about a year.
Hope that helps, I find it is almost impossible to predict what sales will be.

Wow, very cool to list numbers like that, Cliff.
I think this is something I would like to see more of, as it would give people a much better feel for what to expect, what does and doesn''t work, etc.... as long as it doesn''t get into any of those ugly my "sales" are bigger than your "sales" issues.
Obviously after saying that it''s now my turn.
So here goes,
This game: http://www.midnightsynergy.com/intensity
has sold about 1000 copies (roughly) through shareware.
This game: http://www.midnightsynergy.com/recharge
has been out for a year now and sold 300 copies through shareware so far.
We''ve sold a few thousand through retail, but that''s really hard to track (and obviously doesn''t pay nearly as much per copy).

No kidding! These posts have been awesome. I think it's safe to say that everybody knows it's impossible to predict how many copies a game will sell, however I think everybody wants to see some examples of what a good or bad game could possible sell. Thanks alot!! This is exactly what I wanted and I hope more people will post their sales, too! Thanks!
