Texturing pisses me off
Okay, I''ve been doing some modeling the last couple of weeks, and it has now come time to add textures. The only problem? I CANT FIND ANY. I''m modeling firearms, and I want the textures to be accurate. I have alot of trouble finding both sides of the gun, flat, or very close to being flat (can fix that in photoshop). Im also having trouble fining top-down, bottom-up views and front and back veiws. No granted, I really dont need the front back and up down textures ( I can make my own) but these sure would be good for modeling.
All the couterstrike clans that make mods etc,etc seem to have no trouble finding free textures and QUALITY images of firearms for free.
So whats the deal?
get yoself a digital camera. run over to a gun shop. take pictures. or goto crazy uncle bob, you know, the one with the firearms depot in his basement? or make a deal with a gun company and ask them if you can use their guns in a video game.
but seriously, the best way IMHO to get the pics you want is to take them yourself.

That is definitely an option I have been considering. But considering the fact that i''m well underage, most of the guns places have given me alot of looks and been very reluctant to let me take "photos" of their firearms. In addition to that, I live in Canada, and so that makes it even worse...
Would it be possible for me to e-mail Colt for example and explain everything to them and ask for some images? Surley they have some hi-res pics lying around somewhere...

I''d order a gun catalogue if I were you, almost all pictures are side views, then you can just scan it in, and use it as a reference to make your own skin. Photos don''t generally look very good when applied directly to models anyway, unless theyre taken in very even lighting, you''re always best painting your own and just using a photo as a reference if necessary.
It''s not perfect, but this might help (scroll down to the gun sections near the bottom)

You''re kidding, right?
Google gun + manufacturer and have fun. Or gun + catalog
One of the first links I got was http://www.gunmanufacturer.com/ which had links to several manufacturer websites. Most of them have images of the guns they sell.
