For one thing, start with learning the basics. I assume that you do not know all of the basics because you are posting in the Beginners forum.
If you learn the stuff and have some pretty fancy code examples, you may be able to apply for some sort of scholarship. Talk to teachers/principles/counsellors at your school and see if you can work out a plan to get into a good game school or university.
Most high-schools have counsellors, and usually the counsellors can help you decide on a profession and path to get to that profession.
Last, but not least (and this is one of the MOST important things): Do NOT give up on yourself. Do not doubt yourself. Do not worry about anything. People work best on a clear conscience, worrying does not solve anything.
I hope that I have helped somehow, and I hope that you become a very successful game programmer!! (if you thought that any of the previous was cheesy then I must stick my tongue out at you )

master_ball, you obviously have never worked at a really awful company. Or you have a high threshold of paint when working with/for stupid, ignorant, clueless, etc., people.
High threshhold of paint
Don''t listen to me. I''ve had too much coffee.

Hey Sonicteam!
I''ve felt the same way as you about all this programming stuff.
It''s fun but im not sure i want to keep doing it all my life, escpecially not if i turn out not to be very good at it.
I still enjoy programming and im even studying it at a university but i really aint that serious about it. ill keep doing it until im bored of it(if i will be).
Then im going to be a gardener. seriously.
