Nehe = Best OpenGL Site. Best DirectX Site = ?
I''ve been a faithful visitor of nehe.gamedev.net for over a year now, and love the tutorials on this site.. They have been very informative and helpful.
Now I''m interested in learning DirectX, mostly for the 2d animation but also some 3d Stuff as well.
I''m interested in seeing some suggestions for tutorial sites from Nehe Visitors.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
NipsMG
I''m not saying it''s the best DX site but NeXe (Neon Xenon) is NeHe in DirectX.
Also, do you mean DirectX or Direct3D?

I actually went directly to OpenGl, without really learning 2d graphics and animation first. I''d like to learn some 2d techniques, which I can Fake in OpenGL (i guess)..
However, I have a feeling using a 3d api to do 2d work has its price in overhead.
I understand basic concepts (blitting, DC''s, etc) which I''ve done using windows API, but I''d like to learn DirectX and a little direct3D Also.. I''d love to see sites on both topics.
Thanks!

DrunkenHyena is the paramount among D3D8 sites.
NeXe is okay for the first few tutorials, but it''s rarely updated and for the most part is redundant to DH.
TwoKings has some pretty good stuff, but once again DH covers most of it and has a lot more.
''S''bout all.
Good luck,
ZE.

Also, look at the Cone3D site here. Click on the Graphics in SDL link. It''s completely 2D, but it runs slow as tar running up hill. It''s easier than Dx or OGL, though, to do some simple things. The framework, for example, is only about 50 lines long, at max.
Also, I think the best Dx Resource for everything (D3D, DSound, etc.) is the DirectX 8.1 help file that comes with the SDK. At least, mine did, that I DL''d from M$.
