Woho I have been looonging for a new NeHe contest ever since I downloaded all the great LOTR demos. But I have a question: do I have to use NeHe''s basecode? Does it mean that I can''t take parts of it and make it OOP the way I want it? I mean the window initializing and such will be the same, but put in a different way.. Anyway, great work NeHe for putting up a new contest, and good luck to the rest of you!

I think he doesn't mean to use "exclusively the NeHe original basecode" especially because he allows entries to run on other platforms than Windows, and unfortunately his original basecode is Windows-compatible *only*.

I think he means you may choose the OOP basecode as well as the SDL basecode or whatever.

As for using your "own" basecode -- unrelated to NeHe basecode at all -- it's written that you can't.

Though, you could mail him to ask him to be more precise in the contest rules, because I'm not sure of what he really meant.

From the Halloween 2002 page
You have until October 28th, 2002 to write an OpenGL Halloween Demo using the base code from this web site (any version of the basecode) or your own basecode as long as it's included with the entry!

It seems NeHe is fine with using your own basecode .

Well. I wonder how many people are entering, let's have a roll call. Also, _DarkWIng_, are you entering? I guess not if you wrote the invitro .

btw, I'm entering .

Hmm thanks for clearing that up BaldurK. I must have been blind when I read that part (but if I was blind, how could I read in the first place? )

Since i can use my own basecode I''m heavily considering entering this contest.. the old cliché "I''m not good enough" you know.. but I''ll see what I can do..

Once again, thanks NeHe for putting up another contest! These are what keeps the community alive!

Only the three of us? That could make a strange contest...

It will be very interesting finding out if the lack of prizes affects the number of entries.
