Direct X literature
I''d like to begin programming games using DirectX but have nowhere to begin. I have a few years background in c++, so thats no issue, it''s just the DX part I need an intro to. I have no personal contact with other programmers and can''t really sit up all night, scanning the net for tutorials, since i''m stuck on a lousy 56k.
My question to all of you is:
Are there any books covering all DirectX topics (DDraw, DSound, DInput, etc) and also giving some depth to the knowledge? I''ve got some basics from the SDK Help but that isn''t enough to get around all the problems.
I guess there must be some other self-taught programmers out there with some hot book tips. Please help me. Books are expensive and I don''t want to buy one only to find it wothless.

Personally, I''d say look around for tutorials before you put any money on something you may not need. For DirectDraw, check out the Game Programming Genesis tutorials by Joseph Farrell on this site. (Game Programming section)
GameTutorials.com has some good stuff, or so I remember being told... My point is, you can probably find most of what you''re looking for online, which is a bit cheaper than books.
