Light weight 3D file format for Web interactivity (VR)

Hi folks! I have to do a survey on the different 3D file formats for web available until now. I''m looking for information on this topic considering that I''m looking for a "light weight" 3D file format (different from VRML) allowing interactivity from a Web browser and if possible which would allow me to import former 3D Scenes made with well-known Modelers . Please help me or give me some piece of advice (projects, state of the art, documentation links) about my request. Thank you !

3dmf is pretty lightweight, i think someone may have made a webviewer for it, its an apple technology, so look on their site and then search engines.
