Hmmm I do not want to be rude but exactly how much do you know about programing with C++/programing WIN32 applications/programing games ?
Coz if you are a newbe in game programing ( like me ) than I think that you have a very long way to go until making or joining a team of programers would make any sense , and an even longer way until you can make some mony out of this .
I for exemple , I am trying to make some litle demos alone and learn some things about DirectX and maybe OpenGL and from what I''ve read here and there this is the way to go....
But then again I am just a newbe on game programing so I might be wrong...... but this is just my opinion

Ha! This idiot thinks he's in the industry!

Suggestion: WAKE UP.
You have to crawl before you can walk and you have to walk beforeyou can run etc.
And another thing. You sound like you're learning game programming
just for the purpose of getting rich $$$ cha-ching cha-ching.
Well in the real world, people start out wanting to create
awesome games. Listen, life is about creating, giving etc.
You've got to find your life's work.
Even Shiguru Mayamoto, being the masterful game designer he is, saidthat you shouldn't make the games JUST for the fans to get money. Follow your passion. But if you're in it just for the money you wouldn't understand anyway...

Anyway, if you really want to do game programming, you better
have a damn good grip on your target language(C or C++). After you've done that, go for OpenGL, or DirectX.

That about wraps it up for my damn awesome speech, but I haven't
really said anything here that no one else has said on this
forum, why don't you do a search on "help" or "I suck" etc.

I don''t think he''s too obsessed about the money. It''s just that some people actually CARE about what they get paid. I''m kinda feeling the same way too, he spends all his money on books, all his teenage years on learning how to program/draw, and many people get nothing out of it. I hear a lot of game developers aren''t maing anything right now, which doesn''t set a good example for anyone. I want to be one of those people who actually gets paid when they make a game, not some bum on the street, or someone who is clinging to his mom when he''s 21. Honestly, how much money are some of you people making out there huh? C''mon, tell me! Too em-BARE-ASS-ed? He just wants something for his hard work, everyone wants that.
alot of game studios/ companies dont make money off there games... thats just the way its been for a long time. this industry is damn competitive and only the best survive and rest learn from there failures and get better.. like what the guy above said, you and me and lot of ppl here got a long way before were at the level of "professional game developer"..

Well, if getting money is what you want, then your in the wrong industry. You should make games because you love it. Maybe if you get REALLY good, and are lucky, you can get a job doing it and make some cash. But, more than likely, you''re not going to. It sounds to me like your gonna be out of it in a little bit anyways. When you come on here blabbing about making $$$ and the roxxOr company you started, that shows the wrong attitude. And frankly, I don''t think anyone is going to want to help you if you come on here talking like that.

great, some replies, so you all know, programming is what i love, for the past couple of years that i have been trying to learn, and find some good books and tutorials it is all that i do, i have people mad at me cause i wont stop with the computer, I know jack poop on the C language, but Python i know very little, i read some in some of the companies, and just about all are using or are gonna use Python..also, computers is what i love, i dont know much about win32, i programed Winsock and Dummysock while i was in Excite chat, anyway, i dont want money, i know that some people out there DO want it, and i was offering it, and i was telling them in a very blunt way that i dont have any money to give until a game can be sold, ell i would do them all for free if i could, but as Furion said, I need the money, and so do the people that i work for.
Its nice to follow dreams, man I dream to be in the industry someday. But one thing I have to say is that the standard for game companies is C/C++. I''ve been programming C++ for 1 year and finally started to make games in it.

Good luck

Yep, entirely true. If you want to make money, become a politician .

Yep. I did that. But: I worked as a consultant for non-game companies before, and I made quite a bit more than I''m making now. If you like to program, no matter what, and you want to make good money, beef up on your Oracle/C#/Java skills and find a job in the consulting game.

If you love games, go for it. Oh, and for the original poster: If you ever hope to attract professionals to join your company, try working a bit on the presentation of your ideas.

I know you want to make a game, and you want to make it fast. But you need help to do that. And people will judge you by what they can see of you - your posts. If your posts look sloppy, everybody will assume the same about your code, no matter if it''s true or not.
