Max terrain mapping question
Hi. I''ve been learning max as I go, and have mostly been shooting my models
with single piece mapped skins. But now I want to do better game quality
levels using multiple alpha channels maps, like these shots from AA:

My question: I''m confused what materials options are used to perform
something like this? Each bitmap does look like it is a circular faded
alpha channeled map. Is this something using blended materials, composite,
sub-object??? I need a little direction. I would think a separate UV would
be shot for each placement of a map...?
Any help would be great.
