TO ALL THOSE POSSIBLE READERS!!!!!!! BY VIEWING THIS POST YOU AGGREE TO THE TERMS AND LEGAL RIGHTS BY ME (AND MY COMPANY) TO SUE BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE WORDS WRITTEN HERE ARE BY NO MEANS BEING MADE FOR PUBLIC USE. ANY USE OF THIS DOCUMENT OTHER THAN TO HELP THE DESIGNER(ME) WILL BE BROUGHT TO COURT UNDER THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. ALSO THIS IS EXTREMELY LONG!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK okay now that thats out of the way. I have this little document here that outlines (in a VERY rought way) a game i wish to decide. However I need input (or physical help) as to how to go about arrangin it in some kind of order. Any help would be appreciated. If you would like to work with me on this project by all mean email me at bsb17@eshacks.net im looking for an animator, at least 1 other programmer other than myself, and anyone with ideas. here goes (brace thyself) Okay heres the low down. Its an online game(strictly online) where you logon, create a character, and you can choose to either be military only(explained later) or start life as a child. -Child life: you have parents (full grown adults played by comp to start. then later by other players) you live with them and grow up. A Year for them is a month for us. You cannot die from old age. But if you do die (murder or battle) you DIE. as in your deleted and must start over. -Military: you start out at age 18 and have no parents. You only have an "owner". He/She is a player that started life as a child and became a lord. You defend their castle, wage their wars, and things like that. In this way. Only wars can be waged with other players. As a lord you literally hold peoples lives in your hands. But theirs a bonus. If you die while military you simply lose your equipment and gold and are reset (rank wise) in that persons military. you may also becom a traitor and join another military.militarymen cannot permanently die. but do not get the benefits and possible jobs that child born do. -Back to child born: you grow up learn things. train. get jobs. just like real life. if you become a lord, by some means to be decided, you can hire builders to build your castle. these builders are child born players that have trained in construction. All this is first person. The builders have the ability to layout floor plans of any building, farm, house, hotel, castle, etc. and over time it is built. how you like it so far? lords will be allowed to conquer land, while peasants are allowed to take up arms and start a rebellion. the lord is the strategy part. he has diplomacy abilities, trade abilities, and such. along with keeping his peasants(other players) happy and entertained. Okay. First the peasants role is simply this: farmer: make food and sell it to people ( lords included) as the farmer levels up his irrigation skills and such get better allowing for a more productive crop and higher respect/reputation. blacksmith: make weapons and sell them as the blacksmith levels up his skills with the anvil increase thus increasing the durability and overal quality (damage included) of his weapons. this increases HIS respect/reputation. If it gets high enough he may be hired by a lord to make his military''s weapons and get to live in the castle. Armorsmith: makes armor and related equipment to sell works the same as blacksmith but can make items much faster. Constructor: builds the towns/castles and other buildings. as he levels up, the quality and "hit points" of his buildings increase. this also decreases the costs and thus simulates new innovative construction techniques. all buildings are prelayed out with the exception of homes and castles. these are built 1 room at a time to the owners specifications (at least they are if its a good constructor). Mayor: runs the various towns in the lords land and reports to the lord. Good communication is essential here to ensure commands are carried out quickly and effectively.the better the mayor runs the town the higher his respect/reputation. as a child born, the point of the game would be to have the highest respect/reputation in the world for you specific job. The lords respect allows him to control more poeple and have more lands. It also allows him more control over taxes on his lands. If people are unsatisfied with their lord, they may move. Most of the trivial jobs such as tavern keeper, hotel owner, and the initial blacksmiths and armor smiths, are computer players. In order to become a blacksmith or armor smith you must become an apprentice under that person. When a player reaches high enough respect in that job, he becomes "licened"(sp?). When this occurs he/she may then take on an apprentice. thus the civilian life (once old enough) becomes a never ending cycle. I like your idea about civilian death. Dont delete, just simply start over. but how would this work? what did you have in mind for that? create a new character all together? if so thats what i meant the character is deleted thus "dying" but the players account is not. if its not, the only thing i can think of would be to have the player lose all respect(or at least part/half of it) and the items and gold he had with him. banks could be used to protect this gold at a reasonable withdrawal fee. say 5% of the withdrawn ammount.(you withdraw100 gold but get 95 the other 5 gold goes towards taxes and thus entering the lords pocket) other taxes like sales tax on items could be used. In this way as the economy thrived the lord would make more money to fund his various actions. This would make the lord have to be concerned with the going ons of his/her lands. MORE IDEAS the peasants can do whatever they want. they can become thieves and try to steal from eachother (pickpocketing, robbery, or threats), hunters/forester, or,when their old enough, play the sports of the land. Eventually the lords will be able to construct things like you said in the thread: colloseums, things like soccer fields. the players of those games would also be civilians. they get paid to play while others pay to watch. that generates income for the lord, minus expenses for the players. it will be a fully interactive game. the players influence the world (which i want to be over 1 million square feet).world size depends on number of kingdoms. a peasant that wishes to start his/her own kingdom must recruit at least 1 constructor, 1 farmer, a blacksmith, and 1 other peasant of any occupation. Some computer players may be hired. as the world grows it will be expanded in a grid like fashion. like this |17|16|15|14|13| |18| 5| 4| 3|12| |19| 6| 1| 2|11| |20| 7| 8| 9|10| |21|22|23|24|25| and the grid would expand depending on how many people have kingdoms. I want the world to load upon walking their. the data may be updated however you never encounter the "LOADING" screen the game will load only the things you see. as you walk it loads things you see and unloads things you dont. (not neccessarily possible but something along that line) or at the least load the whole kingdom and then as you travel, it loads the next kingdom. everyone in a working government will be a player (or computer if no player wants the job) from messangers, to dragon slayers, to council, to generals, to janitors. Lords will have the option to hire thieves(players) to try to steal from other lords, spy on them, or bribe some of their workers. Spies my also be recruited. Its things like this that i believe are neccessary for the gaming experience to be considered new and innovative. another thing i could use help on: spreading the word about the game when the time comes. I will be posting the design document online at my website when its done. Each player will be able to customize what their "future selves" will look like. When they grow up that is. the models will "age" at 10, 28, 30, 40, and 60 years old. at 60 that is the model for the rest of the game. remember old age doesnt kill. just tells how experience and how long you have been playing.its a sort of "respect your elders" type deal. each weapon and each armor will cause your character to look different. helpmets, boots, gloves, leggings, sleeves, and body armor will be displayed. things like rings, pendents, and belts have yet to be decided on. I dont want to bog down the game with changing equipment. The battle system is real time. Meaning there is no pausing it takes place at game speed. The player vs player battles are allowed and even encouraged in some cases. Monsters battles do occur and sometimes the monsters will band together to ransake a town. The lord must decide how to handle the action. send help, go to war with those monsters, etc. There will be melee and missile weapons, spells, and special skills depending on the players job. Computer players will fight but with must less enthusiasm then the players (hopefully) will. Spells will include status changing (poison, slow, haste, attack up, defense up,etc), attack(fireball, iceball, etc based on elements), and healing(cure, stop poison, etc). each spell will have a color(element) associated with it. Each spell with be learned from books and will level up after successfully used for an amount of times based on its current level.skills will level up the same way, however they are automatically learned when your skill in your job increases. Weather will occur in the forms of rain, snow, and thunderstorms(with lightning strikes). ------------------------------ If you whispered, who would hear you? If you cried, who would comfort you? If you begged, who would have mercy? If you program, who will play? ------------------------------

You can''t be bloody serious.

I think the previous poster might have a point. Off hand, there''s nothing in that treatment that grabs my attention - doesn''t seem to be anything compelling on offer. And yes, you really need help organising it into something a little more readable.
Umm, yeah, what the previous 2 said. I don''t think anyone here will have any intentions of making anything based off your post. Lighten up a little man.
I read the first paragraph and gave up.

Bob_The_Fly, you started off on the wrong foot here, and the nature of your post has the possibility of provoking a mini-flame war or series of ridiculing responses that I really don''t want to deal with.

You''re posting in a public forum. You''ll have to accept the fact that, in benefiting from the ideas and inspiration of others, you run the risk of having some of your ideas appropriated. (I wouldn''t let that stop you, as ideas are a dime a dozen and it''s implementation that counts).

I welcome you to try again, but with this advice in mind.
