Hey all. For all of those who were ever psyched about Street Gang or Gamma Hunter, you guys will probably go nuts over my latest project: NightRise. It's a Sci-Fi/Fantasy RPG (and blended together very well). I know I've mentioned a lot about it in past posts, but I've never really gone into much detail about it, so here goes. I'm sure most of you know the plot. The world is messed up from Terrorism and you play the part of Fuego Arrancador, an agent for a terrorist resistance group for Blindaje (Spanish for Shield). You have been ordered to investigate an incoming shipment of a new drug referred to on the street as "Shoots," and scientifically as "XG-10972." Up till now, that was all I revealed of the plot. Well, I felt bad about it, so that's all about to change. In the midst of the investigation, a murder takes place. There is very little evidence to find out who the killer was, but Fuego discovers a bullet hole in the wall, and when he looks through it a laser beam streaks across his face. He finds the sniper in an old garage building. Before he can arrest him, however, the sniper jumps off of the building on his way down morphs into a gigantic eagle and flies away. Fuego's investigations soon lead him to the discovery of an ancient pyramid, where he discovers the meaning of the NightRise and the prophesized return of the demon armies from an ancient Earth. Now alone, with the entire world against him, Fuego embarks on a journey to discover his destiny, to defeat his enemies, and to come to grips with his own, mental demons. Well that's the plot. Sure, a lot of plots are similar to that, but the story is loaded with twists. Now for the game itself. It's a role playing game, and it has strong Final Fantasy roots. Battles occur seperate from the adventure (most of the time) and in Real-Time. Not like Diablo real-time. More like UT real-time. Fast and furious. Fuego can pull off a ton of special moves, all performed by creating simple shapes with the mouse, like "L" "V" or ">". Most weapons come with their own special moves, and to find out how to perform them you can find a description of how to perform that move in either a magazine (for guns) or a scroll (for swords). At most points in the game, you can take a break from the adventure and "Train." This will bring Fuego into a holographic arena where he can practice fighting, using magic, and using special moves. This will help him to increase his endurance, his normal attack power, his defense, and his speed. It will also help him to memorize special moves and magic. When a special move is memorized, it can be performed with any weapon under its specific category. For example, the move Double Shot , which normally comes with the Semi-Automatic Pistols, when memorized, can be performed with all guns, but only guns. There is another way to battle, however. This is usually done for "puzzle" type battles which require you to hit certain things. This is the Field-Battle, which can be performed as either a Third Person Shooter or as a First Person Shooter. In both modes you'll see your weapon and you'll have a crosshair. The crosshair will change color depending on what it's on. If its something you can shoot, like an enemy, it will turn red. If it's a normal NPC/Citizen or something you cannot shoot, it will turn Grey. It is normally blue. This prevents you from killing pedestrians. [edited by - Magic Card on August 6, 2002 5:53:55 PM]

Eh. A man dispatched to stop drug trafficing gets sidetracked by a murder, shot by a sniper with a laser beam, only to find a pyramid which tells him about "NightRise" and a bunch of demon armies?

Sorry..I really don''t like it.

Please fix your HTML tag .
Here's the rest of the post which got cut off:

Weapons so far include everything from pistols to sniper rifles, Shotguns to M203 Grenade Launchers, swords, and even brass knuckles. And there are a lot of weapons. Some of them can be seen up at the website, which I will talk about in a bit. And that "in a bit" is now.

I'm sure many of you remember the old DanAvision Software Entertainment website at www.danavision.homestead.com (and there's no HTML to fix because the site no longer exists). Well, they made me shut it down about a year ago, so now the website is www.danavisiongames.com now, and now I'm able to put up a lot more stuff, like Flash since I am able to use Dreamweaver. I've really changed the format from when the site was first up, the majority of pictures are gifs, and the site itself is really small so it takes no time to load on a 56k modem. Hope you like it.

Anyway, that's all for now. Later. :-)

BTW, munkie, he doesn't get shot by a sniper. It's the guy who was murdered who got shot by a sniper. It all makes sense in the game. Very hard to describe here.

Eh... you should probably get an artist... The weapon models are cool, but that character model isn''t so great.

Umm, just a note. Blindaje is a rarely used word in Spanish. In fact I''ve never heard it used before your post. An actual shield as an object is called "Escudo". This is used more. Blindaje may be like the act of shielding something. Not sure what you were going for but just thought I''d let you know.
My philosophy is, if it sounds good, use it. Fuego Arrancador is technically incorrect Spanish, but it sounds good, so I use it. :-)

If you want to do everything for yourself I suggest you check out some 3D tutorials. polycount has links to a lot of tutorials, check out the forums also. Look for box modeling tutorials.
