14 is not at all young for this kind of stuff!
I started programming in BASIC and Pascal when I was 11 yrs old. I''m 15 now and i''ve moved on to C++ and even (!) assembly. If you feel C/C++ is too hard to grasp onto that first try, I recommend you take a look at pascal.
Hi I'm New...
FeatherWeight: my advice to you would be to get a good "Learn to Program with C++" book, from a bookstore for keeps or from your local library temporarily. In my experience, the book will be the easiest way to learn, because it lays everything out for you and explains it, starting with simple stuff and working up. On second thought, you don't necessarily have to start out with a general purpose C++ programming book; maybe you should get a more specific "Programming Games with C++"-type book. Generally those will also start you out with the basics, but will of course focus on those areas of C and C++ needed for graphics and input control.
EDIT: It would be a very good idea, if you do get a book, to make sure it is at least 400 pages; anything smaller will almost certainly not have enough information to give you a very good start.

I started when I was 7 using qbasic. I quit coding when I was 8 then started learning c++ at 11. Gave up for two years then had another go. I''m now 15 I believe myself to be quite good
Anyways two very useful pieces of advice. Never give up and never use code that you just don''t understand. Also play around lots don''t start any type of game till you''ve mastered the basics.
Ced1: You the same as Ced1 on the GCUK forums? I''m know as Greg on there

Ok, got you all beat. I was 6 learning BASIC, 11 at assembly, 12 for Pascal, 23 for C, and 27 for C++.

you learned asm when you where 11 and 27 when you learned c++. I just have one question why?
It was 1981 when I was 11, there were no C++ compilers for the Apple II. :-P
