Hello, Does anyone know the regular prices that proffesional game art companies charge for their work? By "proffesional" companies I mean reliable groups that have previos experience working on games on contract basis. ( not that I consider independent artist would not deliver high quality just like a formal company, but companies is what I am interested in ) I would mostly like to know about character modelling and animation costs. (per character prices) Thank you
All good things come to the daring.
Not really the sort of thing we can answer as these figures would depend on what the actual work was and how much of it. Companies would give a quote for your particular job.

Best bet is to contact some and get them to give you a quote.

We calculate 75 to 95 EUR per hour for a graphics person. Work done by the hour. Not in gaming, but for professional applications. Just as a side-note - we are not a graphics shop, but make software (and SOME web stuff - if it falls our way in programming projects), but have a rule that ALL screen design has to be done by a graphics specialist :-)

In general, you end up paying artist salaries with salary and possibly company overheads. You could pay anywhere from US$30/hour to $300/hour or more depending on the number of artists required, length of work, professional level, and company size (relative to company overhead costs).

Keep in mind that a professional artist will likely finish the work quicker and provide a much better-looking end-result. They''re used to working around common technical limitations.

Yamisoft offers professional game graphics services. We keep our service costs low by offsetting expenses to our other primary business function (in-house game development). Feel free to email us if you''d like a quote.
