hey dude, i recommend cubase sx with XP... as it was specifically designed to be used with the next generation microsoft OS.

its worth checking out, a little expensive, but worth every penny
has functionality for audio, midi, surround sound mixing. very nice.

There''s a very cool sampler, easy to use, and I like it very much. I haven''t used a sampler before, nor a pro sound program, but I think the output is quite good, and brings a lot of instruments...

Its name is Fruity Loops, and you can find it at www.fruityloops.com, you can download a demo if you like, and I think the box version costs around 150$...

Don''t get a stupid loop progrm. That''s exactly the kind of crap I was talking about in other posts -- fruityloops, or otherwise. They are shit -- Programs for composer wannabes with no musical talent what-so-ever. Stick to midi (standard or otherwise). Cubase is your best bet, but I can''t repeat enough, don''t get a looper if you are serious about what you''re doing.
