Ya know, you could just get, say, Windows Game Programming for Dummies or something from a library, put the cd in your cd-rom drive and copy the DX 6.1 sdk. It''s a lot easier than dling 7.0. Besides, do you really need to be that up to date

CmndrM: I think the server was down or at least having some serious problems yesterday afternoon (PST) I couldn''t connect to the site for a couple hours either b/c the server couldn''t be reached or it was busy. Other sites were working, so it wasn''t my connection (and you seem to have experienced the same thing...)

It was messed up yesterday, I couldn''t get on for a while either- and I''m DSL.

Yeah, I could get on other sites too, but you never can tell if it''s just your comp when you''ve got an aging P-166 . And I''m not talking Pentium II =(. Oh well.

Where I''m from, the libraries don''t trust anybody with the CD''s from books! Anyway, my town library is REALLY big, pretty cool, but a bad selection of computer books...I think the most recent one there is some book about programming in VB. There is a cool assembly book there though.
