stencil buffer - is it worth it?

fix 2 fixed it up for me. I was getting around .5 fps in fullscreen and 17 or so in windowed before, now i get 17 in windowed and around 30 fullscreen

btw i am running on a...(on a different computer gotta check what stuff this comp has)

ok here it is:
PII 450mHz
STB nVidia TNT 16mb
256mb RAM

and im running my desktop at 32bit color mode.

aaandd, i killed the enemy FINALLY!! lol

anyway, i hope that helps some
Fix 2 brings me to 50 fps, very nice job. Apparently it was the 32-bit issue with my TNT2.

the method I mentioned would, as far as fillrate goes, be no slower than using stencil, an since you use blending, it would actually be faster...

but, yes, you do have to render your geometry twice, but assuming that yourve got that well optimized down to a few drawelements calls, then that won''t really have an effect.
