Prototyping
Hi all!
I would be interested if anybody of you has experiences in using prototyping tools (ala Virtools Dev, DarkBasic, 3D GameStudio) for professional game development (AAA titles)?
Is it worth considering some of them (e.g. Virtools) for not only (gameplay-, gamemechanics-) prototyping but even as full blown game engines?
Any suggestions, tips, experiences?
Thanks in advance!
I worked with Jamagic (made by clickteam) a while back and I found it to be a good prototyping tool, but I don''t like the idea of having unused features bogging down my fps or stability.
IMHO if you''re serious about game development and you are an able programmer, you''ll get much further writing your own code than using any kind of intermediary development kit. If you''re not quite the coder (mind you, Jamagic does require alot of light coding), but more of an artist, it might actually do you good to make some games with that kind of thing to get a feel for just what kind of work goes into a game.

Are you in support of the ban of Dihydrogen Monoxide? You should be!
