Today I joined the GameDev community. I've been hanging around this site for a few years but I'm pretty sure nobody really knows who I am. This journal was the main() reason that I decided to join gamedev+. I want to let people know what I'm doing and hopefully make a few friends along the way.

I'm an unemployed programmer with a BSCS. Doesn't mean I'm broke however. My wife has a great career which supports us and our son. I spend most of my days programming (C++) and re-reading my text books. I'm studying to take the GREs later this year with plans to attend the DigiPen masters program in 2006. I'm not sure what I'll do after that...Probably program some more.

I like programming graphics and games. I have made several games for the PC, Pocket PC, and GameBoy Advance. Also I like to fool around with microcontrollers and have most recently made a Simon clone with one. I prefer DirectX to OpenGL but just because I learned it first.

I am currently working on a game engine. It's called the Depth Engine and it will be the main topic of most future posts. More on that tomorrow.

I will be releasing some of my games in the showcase section over the next few weeks. I just posted one of my favorites called, "The Hacky Sack Game". Check it out and let me know what you think.

Well that's my introduction,
Neil

Welcome to the journal writing community (although you've been an invisible part of it already!) ;)

I'll look forward to reading the things you throw into your journal =)
